Hello world!

Agriculture. People. Entomology. Photography

These are what I am passionate about.

Agriculture, because I agree with President George Washington in saying “It will not be doubted that with reference either to individual or national welfare, agriculture is of primary importance. In proportion as nations advance in population and other circumstances of maturity this truth becomes more apparent, and renders the cultivation of the soil more and more an object of public patronage.”
With no foreseeable increase in arable area on earth in the near future, we have a task at hand of feeding 10 Billion mouths by 2050. That, as we all agree, is no walk in the park. However, the smartest minds are working from different perspectives to tackle just that. The COVID pandemic has brought agriculture as a conversation front and center, which is where it should ideally be anyway.

People, because I am inspired by the legendary Jim Rohn’s words “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with” while also being mindful of the fact that we could build all the systems in the world (even with the potential of AI), absent people, none of it matters.

Entomology, because I am working towards the 10,000 hours (based on the 10,000 hr rule popularized by Malcom Gladwell in his book “Outliers”) to build on my education and training.  One of the most famous Entomologists to date, Dr. E. O. Wilson once said “If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos”.  While the future possibilities of Entomology in itself is mind boggling, I am even more intrigued by the history of Entomology, the yesteryear entomologists, and the ceilings they broke.

Photography, because Destin Sparks captured it best in words “Photography is the story I fail to put in words”. Technology has enabled every single person to write amazing stories sans words from the palm of their hands. A good photo is always a treat of a perspective.
